Review Middle 8 Music Magazine - Rising swing star Dan Barnett’s follow up to his succesful 2001 release The Right Track features Dan fronting his very swinging Big Band. Dan is a great trombonist with a strong track record already on the Sydney Jazz and session scene, but in addition he proves here his remarkable vocal abilities. In a world replete with accomplished female jazz vocalists, the male equivalent is a much rarer beast indeed. Barnett has found his own sound but if comparisons are needed Georgie Fame,Sinatra,Harry Connick and even Kurt Elling may spring to mind. The vocals, arrangements, The warm and sparkling recorded sound might just knock your socks off! The CD also features a duet with guest vocalist Emma Pask (James Morrison protege). If you enjoyed Grace and Vince Come in Spinner you’ll love this one.
